Legado, Douro Tinto, 3 Bottle Case, 75cl

The grapes for Legado come from a 7.5 hectare plot of over 100-year-old bush vines at Quinta do Caêdo. The estate lies upstream from Pinhão in the Ribeira do Caêdo Valley near Ervedosa do Douro. These old vines are extremely low yielding - some only produce one to two bunches of grapes per vintage. The steep terraced vineyard, supported by traditional dry stone walls (solcalcos), is planted on schistous soils. The vines are farmed organically and all vineyard operations are done by hand.

Legado meaning "legacy", is one of Portugal's finest wines. A single-vineyard wine made from the fruit of the over 100-year-old vines at Quinta do Caêdo in the Cima Corgo.

Deep ruby in colour. This wine has excellent complexity with well-defined dark berry aromas, floral and herbal nuances, hints of balsamic and well-integrated spicy notes from the oak. On the palate, it has a lively acidity, that confers great freshness, and firm but silky tannins. All of this culminates in a deliciously lingering finish.
